THE troubled Commonwealth Games were hit by more calamity yesterday as two SNAKES sent the shivers up athletes. They fled the scene faster than Olympics running legend Lord Seb Coe after a deadly 3½ft cobra was spotted slithering down a drain in the tennis stadium. And another snake was found by a shocked South African competitor in his ROOM. Monsoon rains are believed to have driven the serpents into the New Delhi athletes' village and stadium. South Africa's High Commissioner Harris Mbulelo said: "We have very grave concerns. If snakes are found, we can't ask our teams to stay there. It is really a threat to the lives of all our athletes." In a further blow, Indian boxer Akhil Kumar, 29, told how he narrowly escaped injury when his bed in the village collapsed as he sat on it. Happy Birthday To You
Indian cricket may be besmirched in one of its worst ever crisis, but there is cause for celebration amid the gloom as iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar turns 37 on Saturday. Unlike some previous years, Tendulkar will have to put his birthday celebrations on hold as a day after he has some unfinished task to complete. With his coruscating show with the bat, he has led Mumbai Indians to the IPL summit clash for the first time in three attempts and could give himself a perfect birthday gift by laying hands on the winners' trophy. The maestro is, however, struggling hard to get fit after splitting his right hand webbing during the semifinals. Fans are keeping their fingers crossed that he is declared fit to play the final on April 25.
Tendulkar's 37th birthday comes as BCCI and the IPL battle allegations of corruption and betting. IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi is in fact, facing the possibility of being shunted out of the event which was his brainchild. But with their splendid show, Tendulkar's Mumbai Indians have shown that the controversy -- which has found an echo in the Parliament of the country as well-- has not diminished their spirits and when on field they care for nothing but cricket. May this day comes in your life again and again with full of happiness.

CHAK DE INDIA is in depth
Its very shameful for the Nation as well as so called team of hockey administration in the country. The player leaves the national camp, as they could not get money. The players stand came at that time, when we are going to organise World Cup Hockey in the country. Mr. A.K.Matto, president of Hockey India, talked with players yesterday and he said that players payment dispute is solved. But players fear they can face a pullout situation for this. Anyway it is very shameful that Central Government and Sports minister are keeping there finger on there lips, while all drama went with National Sports Hockey.
